Private Jet Airports in Tokyo
Tokyo and the surrounding region offer several airports relevant to private aviation, although international business jet operations are concentrated primarily at Haneda and Narita.
Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND), officially Tokyo International Airport, is located south of central Tokyo and serves as one of Japan’s principal international aviation gateways.
Haneda accommodates selected private and business aviation operations alongside extensive scheduled airline traffic, subject to airport slots, parking availability, handling arrangements and operating permissions.
Its proximity to central Tokyo makes it particularly convenient for passengers visiting Ginza, Marunouchi, Roppongi, Azabu and other central business and residential districts.
Narita International Airport (NRT) is located east of Tokyo in Chiba Prefecture and accommodates international private aviation alongside commercial airline operations.
Narita offers established facilities for international aircraft movements and may be suitable for certain charter arrangements depending on aircraft availability, airport permissions and handling requirements.
Road transfers from Narita to central Tokyo commonly take approximately 60–90 minutes, although traffic can extend journey times.
Ibaraki Airport (IBR) is located northeast of Tokyo and serves commercial and general aviation. It may be considered for certain private aircraft operations, subject to permissions, available facilities and aircraft suitability, although its distance from central Tokyo makes it less convenient for most visitors.
Chofu Airport (RJTF) is a smaller airport west of central Tokyo, primarily supporting domestic general aviation and regional services. Its runway limitations and operating restrictions make it unsuitable for most conventional international private jet charter operations.
For passengers travelling to central Tokyo, Haneda is generally the most convenient airport geographically, provided suitable private aviation arrangements are available.
Narita may be considered where aircraft, slot or handling requirements make it more appropriate.
Private aviation in Japan is subject to detailed operating procedures, including airport coordination, customs and immigration requirements, aircraft parking arrangements and applicable flight permissions.
For clients travelling onward to Kyoto, Osaka or other Japanese destinations, the most suitable airport should be selected according to the final itinerary rather than assuming every journey should begin or end in Tokyo.
FlyPRVT works with aviation partners to explore appropriate aircraft, arrival airports and onward transfer arrangements for Tokyo charter enquiries.
