Private Jet Airports in Canada
Canada has an extensive network of international, regional and general aviation airports, providing a range of options for private aircraft.
Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) is Canada’s largest international airport and accommodates private and business aviation through established handling facilities alongside scheduled commercial flights.
Located west of central Toronto, Pearson is an important gateway for international private jet arrivals and longer-range aircraft.
Road transfers to downtown Toronto commonly take approximately 30–60 minutes, depending on traffic.
Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) is located close to downtown Toronto and provides convenient access to the financial district and central residential neighbourhoods.
However, runway capabilities, operating restrictions and aircraft limitations mean it is not suitable for every category of private jet. Suitable charter operations must be confirmed individually.
Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is the principal international aviation gateway for British Columbia and accommodates private and business aviation through established facilities.
Located south of central Vancouver, the airport provides access to downtown Vancouver, West Vancouver and onward journeys throughout the province.
Road transfers to central Vancouver commonly take approximately 20–40 minutes in favourable conditions.
Montréal–Trudeau International Airport (YUL) is Quebec’s principal international aviation gateway and accommodates private aviation alongside commercial airline operations.
It provides access to central Montreal, the city’s business districts and surrounding residential communities.
Calgary International Airport (YYC) is an important gateway for private aviation in Alberta, serving Calgary’s business community and travellers continuing to the Canadian Rockies.
For passengers visiting Banff or Lake Louise, Calgary is a common arrival point, followed by onward ground transportation.
Road transfers from Calgary Airport to Banff commonly take approximately 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours in favourable conditions, while Lake Louise is farther west.
Ottawa Macdonald–Cartier International Airport (YOW) serves Canada’s capital and accommodates suitable private and business aviation operations.
Montréal Saint-Hubert Airport (YHU), also known as Montréal Metropolitan Airport, is located south of Montreal and supports business and general aviation. It may provide an alternative for suitable private aircraft depending on operating arrangements.
Muskoka Airport (YQA) is located near Gravenhurst in Ontario and accommodates suitable business and general aviation aircraft.
It can be particularly convenient for travellers visiting private properties around Lake Muskoka, Lake Rosseau and Lake Joseph, subject to aircraft capabilities, operating requirements and applicable customs arrangements.
Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre and associated harbour aviation facilities support seaplane operations, offering connections to selected coastal and island destinations. These facilities do not accommodate conventional private jets.
For international travellers visiting Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal or Calgary, the principal international airports generally provide established facilities for a wide range of private aircraft.
However, regional airports may be more convenient for certain leisure destinations, provided aircraft suitability, runway requirements and operating permissions allow.
International private aviation arrivals into Canada are subject to applicable customs, immigration, advance passenger reporting and airport clearance requirements. Not every regional airport is authorised or available for every international arrival.
Winter conditions, aircraft de-icing, runway performance, airport operating hours and onward transportation should also be considered when planning a charter.
