Private Jet Airports in Madrid
Madrid and the surrounding region offer several airports relevant to private aviation, although their facilities and operating permissions differ considerably.
Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD) is Spain’s principal international airport and the main gateway for private jet charter in Madrid. It accommodates private and business aviation through dedicated handling facilities alongside extensive scheduled commercial airline operations.
The airport is located approximately 12–15 kilometres northeast of central Madrid, with road transfers commonly taking around 20–40 minutes depending on traffic and the final destination.
Madrid–Barajas is generally the most practical option for international private jet arrivals, larger aircraft and travellers visiting the city’s principal business and residential districts.
Madrid–Torrejón Airport (TOJ) is located northeast of Madrid and has historically supported military and authorised aviation activities. Access for civil private aviation is restricted and should not be assumed available for ordinary charter operations without specific confirmation.
Madrid–Cuatro Vientos Airport (LECU) is located southwest of central Madrid and primarily serves general aviation, flight training and smaller aircraft operations. Its operating restrictions and aircraft limitations make it unsuitable for most conventional private jet charter requirements.
Salamanca Airport (SLM) is located northwest of Madrid and accommodates selected civil aviation operations. It may be relevant for particular regional itineraries, although its distance from Madrid makes it less convenient for most visitors to the capital.
Valladolid Airport (VLL) is another regional airport northwest of Madrid that may accommodate suitable private aircraft, subject to available facilities and operating requirements.
For most private jet travellers visiting central Madrid, Madrid–Barajas offers the most appropriate combination of international access, business aviation facilities and ground transportation.
Travellers visiting locations outside Madrid should consider whether a regional airport would reduce onward travel, particularly when the final destination is closer to another city.
Airport slots, aircraft parking, handling arrangements, customs requirements and operating permissions should be confirmed before finalising a charter.
